Hamax was established in 1958 and the headquarter is located in Moss, 60 km south of Oslo, Norway. Main production (injection moulding and assembly) is in Norway. The products are distributed through leading sports and leisure chains in Scandinavia and Europe, and Hamax has its own regional representatives in several European countries. Approximately 85% of revenues are international sales.

Hamax AS is the world’s leading manufacturer and a pioneer in the market for bicycle child seats, toboggans and sledges. All Hamax products are developed and tested in consultation with the target groups and external test institutes to ensure safety, design and functionality. We are constantly seeking to develop comfortable, functional products for children. Every new product from Hamax includes one unique consumer value.

Hamax philosophy is to be the preferred supplier of products which contribute to healthy outdoor activities for children and their families.

Design for environment
In every new product development project  “design for environment” is an important sub project. This to ensure a low carbon footprint through optimal construction,  use of recyclable materials and making products that have high quality and durability.

Reach
Hamax has committed themselves to the REACH agreement. REACH is a new European Community Regulation on chemicals and their safe use (EC 1907/2006). It deals with the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemical substances. The new law entered into force on 1 June 2007.

The aim of REACH is to improve the protection of human health and the environment through the better and earlier identification of the intrinsic properties of chemical substances. At the same time, innovative capability and competitiveness of the EU chemicals industry should be enhanced. The benefits of the REACH system will come gradually, as more and more substances are phased into REACH.

Production
App 80% of Hamax  revenues come from products manufactured in Norway. The manufacturing is highly automated and are using clean energy. The manufacturing location also contributes to less carbon waste due to minimized transportation.

The relationship between Hamax and its suppliers are based on mutual respect. Hamax has a close contact and follow up during the process of development and running sub contracts. This follow up is  covering aspects related to human rights, workers rights, development and environment in addition to normal business aspects.
