Hamax History

The history of the company can be traced back to 1958

From 1958

Hamax has been in continuous development for more than 50 years. The history of the company can be traced back to 1958, when the company operated under the name of Plast&Form. The company’s name was changed in 1978 to Hamax AS. Hamax, in the early years in the 1960s, produced winter products such as simple sledges and mini-skis. Mini-skis are still on sale and are as popular today as they were then. Many sledges have been developed over the years and Hamax today has a wide range of steerable sledges and toboggans, simpler sledges with handbrakes, surfers and sledging mats.

The first child bike seat was produced in 1981

The first child bike seat was produced in 1981. Hamax is the child bike seat market leader in Scandinavia and is one of the largest and most recognised in Europe. We have achieved this position by developing and testing our products in consultation with target groups and external test institutions, to ensure that safety, design and functionality are maintained throughout the development process. All Hamax child bike seats are approved and marked in accordance with European standard EN14344.

Hamax acquired the company Rocko AB in 2007 and through this added a new brand to the company’s range. In 2008, Hamax decided to discontinue own production and focus on sales/marketing and product development. Hamax’s head office is in Moss, Norway and the development department is in the Netherlands.
